THE Lloyds bank in New Alresford will close next week.
The bank, located on West Street, will shut its doors on November 27.
As previously reported, the branch is one of 21 closures taking place across the UK. A Lloyds Bank spokesperson told the Chronicle in June: “As many customers now choose to bank online or through their mobile app, visits to our Alresford branch have fallen over recent years.
“The local Post Office offers everyday banking, with cash also available at free-to-use ATMs, alongside other ways to bank such as online, phone and mobile banking services”.
A spokesperson for the National Federation of SubPostmasters said that alternative banking provisions can be found at local post offices.

They said: “On November 27, 2023, Lloyds in High Street, Alresford, is due to close. This will doubtless be disappointing to Lloyds customers in Alresford. However, alternative banking provision is available to local residents at post office branches nearby.
“Each of these branches offers banking services - including deposits, free cash withdrawals and balance checks, as well as offering face-to-face access to government services, bill payment, foreign currency, travel insurance and, of course, postal services. There are many free-to-use ATMs installed across the UK post office network also.”
Local post offices include the Southern Cooperative shop on West Street, the Old Alresford SAS on Kiln Lane, and the Courtyard, Church Street in Ropley.
With the closure of Lloyds, the only bank still maintaining operating in Alresford will be Nationwide, which has a building society also located on West Street.
