THESE are the five most dangerous road junctions in the Winchester area, according to Chronicle readers.
We asked on Facebook "In your opinion, where is the most dangerous road junction in our area", and were flooded with over 100 responses.
We've trawled through them all and created this list of the five road junctions you believe to be the most dangerous in Winchester.
The five most dangerous road junctions in Winchester
1. London Road (Cart and Horses) junction, Kings Worthy
The most popular answer by far, many readers took to Facebook to voice their concerns about this particular junction.
This junction, which turns onto the particularly busy Winchester by-pass, can be a hassle, especially at rush hour - so it is no surprise that this is the top of the list.
One reader said: "Nothing seems to work so far. It needs either a roundabout or traffic lights. Human error is too easy and fatalities keep happening because of lack of understanding or impatience."
Another added: "We were picked up and rammed into the leaning pine tree over 15 years ago by a speeding 4x4…it was an issue then and still all these years later…nothing!"
2. Winnall Roundabout
The second most commented was the Winnall roundabout, particularly the entrance from Easton Lane, but this place on the list will cover the roundabout in its entirety.
One reader commented that "Drivers are always chopping and changing lanes!"
Another added that is is: "Poorly laid out, leaving Winnall to A272."
3. Olivers Battery Road onto Badger Farm Road
Turning onto a 40mph road can feel unsafe at the best of times, but this narrow junction can be a nightmare for some, particularly at busy times.
A number of readers commented this junction, and it is understandable as to why.
4. Harestock Lane onto Wellhouse Lane
This junction has a similar layout to the infamous Cart and Horses junction, so it is not surprising to see it appear on the list.
One reader said: "Aside from the Cart and Horses, another pet hate junction is the crossing from Harestock Lane to Wellhouse Lane over the Andover Road."
Crossing one fast flowing road can be challenging enough, but to then have to cross another further complicates things, and adds more danger.
5. Lidl Roundabout, Eastleigh
While not in Winchester, this particular roundabout was put forward by many readers.
With its large number of exits, this roundabout can be difficult to get onto at busy times of the day, an it is understandable that readers would consider this to be one of the most dangerous junctions in the area.
