So Hampshire County Council has taken back parking permit responsibility from our local council.

In their wisdom they have decided to move online with parking permits: no more hard copies in windscreen.

This means the traffic wardens now have to search online for parking permission for each vehicle.

Enter a registration, and await a response….

This cannot be more efficient than looking at windscreen permits.

I am watching two wardens walking to and fro looking at their little screen things.

I’d estimate it takes at least twice as long this way.

It also means that those of us who do pay for permits have no means of recognising or reporting non-permitted vehicles. I’d like to see the reasoning behind this new system.
