A CHARITY is appealing for someone to come forward and give their time in a bid to banish loneliness.
The Civil Service Retirement Fellowship, a small national charity supporting retired civil servants, provides charitable friendship services to its beneficiaries.
One service it runs is a national befriending scheme that provides a home or telephone contact with those experiencing loneliness or social isolation in later life.
They are looking to recruit a new volunteer befriender to provide a visit to a beneficiary in Romsey.
David Tickner, chief executive, said the charity would like to hear from anyone who thinks they can help.
He said: "All volunteers are trained, DBS and reference checked before being matched and travel expenses are renumerated.
