Saint Peter's Catholic Church will be hosting the event on Friday, December 15 at 7.30pm with tickets available on the door or online.

The Adoramus Singers, conducted by John Lunt accompanied by the organist Jamal Sutton will be performing a mix of familiar carols and a sprinkling of newer pieces, with the opportunity for the audience to sing.

All funds raised will go towards supporting the vital work of the local Winchester Samaritans branch.

Cllr Angela Clear, the Mayor of Winchester, will be in attendance to support the charity.

The mayor said: “Volunteers at the Winchester branch of Samaritans answer hundreds of calls from people in distress, and provide support for local people in various settings. I'm delighted to support them at their Christmas carol concert, and hope other local people will join for a festive celebration and a chance to contribute towards the charity's vital work.”

Wayne Fletcher, director of Winchester Samaritans, said: “This fundraising event will help save lives and support our community. Samaritans is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year to provide emotional support to anyone who needs us. In a typical month the Winchester branch of 120 volunteers answers 1,600 calls, spending 500 hours on the phone.

“We have ambitious plans to increase our ability to help more people. Every penny raised will go directly to help cover the vital running costs of the Winchester branch. We hope you can join us.”
