FIREFIGHTERS were called to an unattended blaze at a village’s allotment site.

Colden Common residents first noticed the smoke at the allotments, in Hill Lane, around 6pm on Sunday, November 12.

A fire engine and several crew members were seen leaving around 6.40pm but the area still smells smokey.

More than 70 households use the allotments and the extent of the damage and the cause of the fire is currently unknown.

The fire service has been contacted for more information.
