Why on earth demolish a perfectly well-maintained building which serves the needs of a town and is situated in the right place? Who is going to choose to walk perhaps half a mile or more in each direction in the rain/sleet/snow etc?
As Dr Martin Radford said in letters on 20 October 2023, a busy by-pass road has to be crossed with the pedestrians’ lights slowing the already busy road and afterwards another 2 or 3 roads with speeding traffic.
I suspect many motorists will choose to shop elsewhere to the detriment of Romsey. I think the ‘planners’ need to think again.
