WINCHESTER College has hosted a special event providing a chance for young boys to step into the shoes of a Quirister for the morning.
Held before October Half-term, the event allowed visiting boys to immerse themselves in the experience by performing alongside the Chapel Choir, trying on a cassock, playing the organ, and exploring the grounds of Winchester College and The Pilgrims’ School.
They also had the chance to visit the Quiristers’ boarding house and discover more of what the school has to offer.
Current Quiristers played a role in showcasing their talents and experiences to the younger prospects, giving them insight into the position.

Such mentorship can be influential in guiding and encouraging these younger individuals to pursue their interests in music and performance.
Sarah Baldock, director of music at Winchester College, said: “This was a joyful morning and provided a practical opportunity for the boys to explore music, choral performance, and the vibrant community within the College and The Pilgrims' School.
“We look forward to the next step of formal auditions in the coming months.”
Anyone interested in finding out more about choral opportunities can join Winchester Cathedral’s ‘Be a Chorister for an afternoon’ event, on Saturday, November 11 from 2.30pm to 6.30pm. To book a place, email choirs@winchester-cathedral.org.uk or call 01962 857200.
