A WINCHESTER church group is looking for more volunteers to help feed residents at the local homeless shelter.
The city centre parish of St Lawrence, including the church of St Swithun-upon-Kingsgate, aims to provide one meal per month to The Winchester Beacon.
Following a drop in the number of volunteers over the past few years, the team is hoping to recruit four more people, to bring the group back up to 12 so everyone only has to supply one meal a year.
Typical dishes include spaghetti Bolognese, chicken casserole or a gammon joint, delivered to the shelter in Jewry Street fresh or frozen.
Expenses can be reimbursed. Typically the team has been made up of people from the parish but the organisers are welcoming neighbouring residents to join.
Anyone who would like to help can contact Ros Nell on 01962 861448 or rosnell83@gmail.com.
Winchester Beacon aims to break the cycle of homelessness by allowing people to rebuild their lives.
