For the last few weeks your paper has written stories about the mysterious Romsey hospital building. Some are true and some are not.

My name is Wendy and I once lived in the building with my dad Thomas Preston, my mum Muriel Preston and my two brothers Michael and Brian.

My dad was taken on as a porter/maintenance man in 1950 after coming out of the army. The property as we knew it was called "The Bungalow " and it came with the job.

It had two bedrooms; my brothers shared one room and my parents had the other and when I came along nine years later I had the alcove part of my parents' room.

We had a great life living there with plenty of room to play. I remember I used to chat to the gardener and the laundry lady when hanging out the nappies from the maternity unit on the long line behind the bungalow.

My mum also worked at the hospital as a kitchen assistant so I used to spend a lot of time at the hospital. In 1965 we left the bungalow as we were given a council house but my parents still continued to work at the hospital. I remember the gardener moving into the place but for how long I do not know or when it was left to rot. One thing my parents told us was that before we moved in, it was a temporary morgue as strange things used to happen but they never really elaborated on the subject so as not to scare us.
