A FUNDRAISING event for good causes has returned to Romsey, raising thousands for local charities.

More than 400 people attended the sixth annual Romsey Beer Festival, on October 27-28.

Run by the Romsey Round Table, the festival saw locals enjoy more than 25 of the best beers and ciders from the area, along with live music.

The total amount raised was £5,000, which will be added to the funds collected over the Christmas period by Round Table, the Santa Sleigh collections and Mummers plays, and distributed to local charities and good causes in January.

Oliver Stone, one of the beer festival organisers, said: “We love putting the event together each year and were so happy to see so many people enjoy themselves. I want to say a massive thank you to Flack Manor as without their support we couldn’t put the Beer Festival together. I also want to thank Euan Douglas who continues to be an inspiration for me.”

Awards were given to the most popular beers and ciders over the festival. Wessex Pilsner by Flack Manor won the First Firkin Finished award, which went to the first beer that ran dry, with StaggerSaurus by Staggeringly Good coming in second.

The best beer of the festival was given to Wolfie T, also by Flack Manor, with Pupa by Vibrant Forest winning second place. Meanwhile, Whisky Cask, by Thistly Cross, was named the best cider.
