You have published two letters suggesting that the traffic lights at High Street/Southgate Street should be linked to those at Jewry Street/St George’s Street.
I agree it is annoying to have to stop at a red light twice in a few yards, but there is no way to link the lights. The traffic lights at High Street/Southgate Street control the junction. The ones at Jewry Street/St George's Street are linked pelican crossings, which only turn red when one of the buttons is pressed.
It would be even more annoying if they were forced to turn red when nobody wanted to cross.
