A MARATHON which ends in Winchester is returning at the start of October.
The Clarendon Marathon takes place on Sunday October 1 and is more than 90 per cent off road.
It starts at Laverstock and Ford Sports Club and ends at Kings' School in Winchester. As well as the full marathon, shorter routes will also be available with a half marathon, five mile Clarendon Mini and relay.

On the event's website, it said: “If you are looking for a marathon which is off road, picturesque and challenging then running the Clarendon is the ultimate. Our route takes you from Salisbury to Winchester along the ancient Clarendon Way with a few extra turns here and there to make up a full 26.2 miles. More than 90 per cent is off road, with the trail following country tracks and paths - many of which have not changed since being travelled by the ancient Kings and Queens of England.”
Last year, the event raised funds for Women’s Services Freedom programme for victims of domestic abuse, run by Trinity Winchester; Children’s Cancer Services; the Great Lakes Peace Centre in Uganda and Ukrainian refugees.
Online entry has closed, but people can sign-up on the day.
