THE scorching weekend temperatures didn’t stop a pub from hosting its dog show, with competition entries instead moving online.
The Cricketers Inn, in Alresford, had planned a dog show as part of its Charity Funday on Saturday, September 9.
While most dog shows across the country were cancelled, with Saturday being the hottest day of the year, the Hampshire pub said the show must go on – adapting the contest to be on Facebook.

More than 100 people posted photos of their pampered pets, in hope of winning ‘most handsome boy’, ‘prettiest girl’, ‘waggiest tail’, ‘best trick’ or ‘the dog the judge would most like to take home.’
Chris Schutrups, managing director of the Henderson Pub Co which took over The Cricketers earlier this year, said: “We were over the moon with the number of entries and it’s great to support such a great local charity Hampshire Paws.
“As a community-focused, dog-friendly, family-friendly pub it's amazing to have so many customers engage and get involved. We hope to make this an annual event moving forward.”
All winners should receive a rosette in the post.
