A BAND will be returning to its first-ever gig venue in Winchester.
Magnetic Skies will be playing at the Railway Inn, in St Paul's Hill, on Saturday, September 30. The group will be the supporting act for Radiohead tribute band Just Radiohead.
The synthpop band, from Portsmouth, started as a duo consisting of Simon Kent and Jo Womar in 2018, who originally planned to only perform once at a festival.
However, the pair bonded over their shared music taste and decided to develop their music career together.
They felt that being in a duo was too restrictive and enlisted the help of Carlos Aguilar, from Winchester, and Lenin Alegria to form Magnetic Skies.

The band has supported artists such as Altered Images and Heaven 17, as well as performing to audiences of 500 people with sold-out shows.
Their first performance was at the Railway Inn, making it a memorable place for the band.
Simon Kent, vocalist and frontman, said: “We’re always really excited to play in Winchester, every performance is different. It’s exciting to feed off the audience and it’s a really nice venue. The venue’s small and intimate.”

“People are gonna have a great time, hear good songs. We want to give something back to everyone who comes to our shows.”
Simon wants to combat the ‘soulless’ reputation that synthpop bands typically have and said that there is “a lot of emotion and soul in the lyrics” that people can get a lot of energy from.
Alongside the Railway Inn performance, Magnetic Skies will also be releasing its debut album Empire Falling on November 3. The album represents the group's two years spent getting to know each other.
Tickets for the show on Saturday, September 30 are available for £12.50 online or on the door on the day for £15.
