Alresford and District Horticultural Society results
Alresford and District Horticultural Society held their annual show in the grounds of the Agricultural Show on Saturday September 2.
It was very successful with 590 entries from 152 participants, several of whom were entering for the first time.
The 68 children's entries were particularly original and to a high standard and the dahlias were as lovely as usual.
Most of the cups and trophies were awarded, with William Ashby winning the Hampshire Chronicle Challenge Cup for the highest number of points in the Open Fruit and Vegetables Section and several other awards for his vegetable exhibits.
The Culinary Section was as popular as usual with Gill Pendlebury winning the Nicholl Challenge cup for the highest number of points in this Section.
There are a lot of keen photographers in the area, making judging quite challenging but eventually Finn Bruce was awarded the Maddie Attenborough Cup for best photograph, while in the Children's Photography Section Peter Heinrich won the Under 12s trophy and Bethany Turner the Under 17s. The best exhibits in each age group were won by Daisy Armstrong (Under 8 years), Polly Armstrong (Under 12 years), and Bethany Turner (Under 17 years). The Society would like to thank all those who entered and helped to create another successful Show.
