WITH the sunny weather and recent bank holiday, one recycling facility has been hit with more bottles than it can handle.
Kings Worthy residents have taken to social media to point out the abundance of bottles that have been left by the side of the glass bins at Tesco Express in Springvale Road.
Posting a photo on the Facebook group Winchester Rants on Sunday, September 3, one resident said: “Wow you Kings Worthy lot have been thirsty.”

Others commented that the build-up is probably due to the closure of the bottle banks at Tesco Extra, in Winnall, which have gone since work started on the new McDonald’s 24-hour drive-thru.
Winchester City Council confirmed the bottle bank in Kings Worthy has been cleared and the pile-up could have been a result of the prior bank holiday weekend.
A council spokesperson said: “We encourage residents to use our recycling banks where possible. When we are made aware of banks being used more than usual, we do make extra visits or consider other options.
“Our bottle banks are emptied at least four weekly, but the Biffa team do a ‘sweep’ each Saturday and will empty more frequently if bottle banks are becoming full."
