Since 1980 the Royal British Legion Earl Mountbatten Memorial Branch has held an annual memorial service for the First Earl Mountbatten of Burma in Romsey Abbey.

Last year the branch merged with the Royal British Legion Romsey Branch to become the Romsey Mountbatten Branch which is now responsible for the Remembrance Service.

For the last few years attendance at this service has been restricted but we are now able to open it up to a wider audience.

I would therefore like to invite Royal British Legion members, veterans, current armed service personnel, anyone with a connection to Earl Mountbatten or anyone who just want to remember Earl Mountbatten’s contribution to the life of Romsey and the surrounding area to attend this year’s memorial service.

It will be held in Romsey Abbey on Sunday September 10 at 3pm.

Peter Hurst,
Chair Royal British Legion Romsey Mountbatten Branch
