THE Michelmersh Silver Band has performed at the 2023 CarFest festival.
Started by radio DJ Chris Evans in 2017, the annual event supports many children’s charities and is the largest family fundraising festival in the UK.
Held at Laverstoke Park Farm near Whitchurch, the three-day festival attracts thousands of people for a packed programme of events, cars, and mainstage music from acts including Texas, Reef, Razorlight and McFly.
The silver band played on the Showcase and Big Early stages, and at various “buskstops” around the site throughout the festival.

The band were joined for impromptu performances by a rock choir and by several celebrities including Strictly Come Dancing star A J Pritchard and Melanie Sykes who, although herself a brass player, declined the loan of an instrument to join in with the playing.
After an exhausting but exciting Bank Holiday weekend, players will be hanging up their festival “uniform” of Hawaiian shirts and flower leis and brushing off their familiar claret jackets in a complete change of mood for their next event, a joint concert with the Romsey Abbey Choir in the Abbey on Saturday, September 30.
Tickets are currently available and can be purchased from the Romsey Visitor Information Centre or by visiting the Romsey Abbey website.
