A WINCHESTER lawyer is publishing a handbook of advice on menopause and family law, with all proceeds going to charity.
Partner of law firm Blake Morgan, Jennifer Williamson has written ‘A practical guide to menopause and family law’ to support both legal practitioners and a charitable cause.
Menopause is considered to be a contributing factor to more than half of all divorces and Ms Williamson's debut book explores how experiencing menopause while undergoing a divorce can impact a client’s legal case.

The aim of the book, published by Law Brief Publishing Ltd, is to help experts provide better advice and client care.
All royalties will be donated to The Menopause Charity which supports people in understanding perimenopause and menopause so no one needlessly suffers.
The lawyer, from Kings Worthy, is hoping to continue leading the conversation and has been invited to be guest of honour at a breakfast briefing hosted by the ‘Legally Flushed’ initiative which promotes women in legal careers.

Ms Williamson, said: “For many people, menopause remains a taboo or hidden factor – underappreciated in several areas including family law.
"It is important that we help our sector, colleagues and clients be better informed, ensuring we offer expert and well-rounded legal advice and achieve the best possible outcomes.
"It is my hope that practitioners will find this book helpful and instructive, and that through its publication, we can also support a deserving charitable cause.”
Blake Morgan offers staff a Menopause Mentors scheme in partnership with Over the Bloody Moon, a specialist menopause consultancy. It also abides by a Menopause in the Workplace Policy and Guide to support colleagues and provide guidance to managers.
The law firm is hosting a private book launch event at Hotel Du Vin, Southgate Street on Thursday, September 14.
