A YEAR-old burger business has closed its restaurant and is preparing to take over the kitchen of a Winchester pub.
Burpin Ron’s, which opened in Stockbridge Road last Autumn, is moving to Alfie’s pub in The Broadway on Friday, September 1.
At its new more central location the burger business, named after Winchester’s ‘Burping Man' character Ron Purse, will be offering a new menu including chicken burgers and pizzas.

The Stockbridge Road outlet, near the train station, closed on Monday, August 14.
Burpin Ron’s will be open at Alfie’s Monday to Friday 5pm to 3am and 12pm to 3am on Saturday and Sunday. Customers will be able to dine in or take away.

Alfie's general manager, Craig Friswell, said: "We’re seriously pleased to be launching this collab with Burpin Ron’s. Their food is fantastic quality, inventive and always downright tasty – so we can’t wait to get started with our new menu.
"Everyone knows Alfie’s, so really it’s the perfect fit for two well-loved local Winchester establishments. Ron’s launching their signature burgers, including the ‘Full Ronty’ – a mega-burger with a Double Beef Patty, Buttermilk Fried Chicken and all the toppings piled on. These will be served up alongside their Down n’ Dirty fries and other classics from their stable.
"They are also going to be taking over our ovens – so expect to see some new pizzas with a twist from Burpin Ron’s."
Currently the free house and garden is open from the later time of 7.30pm to 3am Monday to Thursday, from 6pm on Friday and midday to 3am for the weekend and food options include pizzas and chips.
The partnership will therefore expand the pub’s menu.
Burpin Ron’s launch in Stockbridge Road, in November last year, saw dozens of people queue up for more than an hour to get their hands on a free burger.
