DOZENS OF firefighters tackled a fire in a Hampshire village shop.
Forty-five firefighters from across southern Hampshire battled the flames at the Co-op store on Hambledon Road, Denmead, yesterday.
Crews attended from Cosham, Havant, Waterlooville, St Mary’s, Fareham and Southsea at around 1.30pm.
Support vehicles from Eastleigh, Beaulieu and Alton were also in attendance along with the aerial ladder.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the roof fire using jets and hose reels.
Ventilation fans were used to clear smoke from the building.
Local residents were advised to avoid the area.
The incident was scaled down to two fire engines before the stop message came in at around 4pm.
The cause of the fire was unclear.
