A MOTORBIKE rider has been reported for driving without insurance or a licence after being stopped along an accident blackspot.

Police seized a bike from a 20-year-old man from Southampton, who was caught along the A272 in Cheriton on the afternoon of Sunday, August 13.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: “He has been reported for driving with no insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and having his number plate obscured/not easily readable.”

Hampshire Roads Policing Unit posted on Twitter: “They ride among us. This rider stopped on A272 at Cheriton today had nothing to hide.... Well apart from no licence (never had one), no insurance, no tax, flip up no plate. Even gave false details which went well until he couldn't remember when he was born. Not the sharpest.”

Police installed speed cameras along the A272 in May to improve safety, following the death of a motorcyclist near Langrish.

Another driver had a lucky escape along the same road, at the beginning of the year, after crashing into a bus shelter in Bramdean, causing a wooden pole to smash through the windscreen.

People living along the A272 and A32 have long campaigned for the police to better tackle anti-social riding.
