WINCHESTER City Council has launched a scheme to feed children from low-income families over the summer.
The council has partnered with two organisations, Projects Bar and Kitchen in Winchester city centre and Sparsholt Village Shop and Post Office to provide free lunches to children across the district who would usually receive free school meals.
The Summer Munchies scheme, which runs until September 1, is also open to any families worried about the cost of providing for their children over the holiday.

The lunches themselves each contain a fresh sandwich, a piece of fresh fruit and a healthy snack, available daily with no prior booking required. Parents can attend either The Projects or Sparsholt Village Shop and ask for the Summer Munchies Deal.
Cabinet member for community and engagement Cllr Kathleen Becker said: “I’m pleased that we’ve been able to partner with two great organisations to roll out our completely free Summer Munchies scheme, which is there to ensure that families concerned about the increased costs of living are still able to provide a healthy and nutritious lunch for their children during the school holidays”.
Projects Bar and Kitchen is located on Upper Brook Street, Winchester, while Sparsholt Village Shop and Post Office is in Woodman Lane.
