Veolia has submitted a planning application to extend the time to retain temporary office buildings at the Otterbourne transfer plant.
The current contract will expire on April 30, 2025, and the temporary buildings must be removed at the expiration date.
The Otterbourne site currently comprises the Waste Transfer Station (WTS), offices and a former residential bungalow used as office accommodation.
Veolia’s planning application seeks to vary conditions 2 of planning permission 08/01133/HCS since, at the moment, the company has until 2025 to remove all temporary buildings, return the bungalow to its former use and reinstate the land to its former conditions, within six months.

The proposed expiration date aims to extend the permission until December 31, 2030, with the application stating the offices will be required at the premises for the duration of the Project Integra contract.
The application to extend states: “The development hereby permitted for the modular offices shall be for a limited period only, expiring on April 30 2030. At the expiration of this period, the temporary buildings shall be removed, and the bungalow returned to its former use and the land reinstated to its former condition within 12 months.”
Therefore, the extra six months that Veolia wants to implement will give them extra time to restore the site.
