A HAMPSHIRE festival has begun its get-out process following a rain-filled weekend.
Work is underway to pack up the Wickham Festival, which ran this year from Thursday, August 3 to Sunday, August 6.
As previously reported, wet and windy weather caused by Storm Antoni left conditions at the event extremely muddy, with tractors required to tow visiting vehicles both on and off the festival ground.
Those same tractors are now being used to help move cars and campervans out of the main festival area and visitor’s car park, as teams work to pack up the event.
Organiser Peter Chegwyn told the Chronicle: “It is all going smoothly, we have tractors if need be. It is business as usual; we just carry on regardless. We have a great crew and they are doing a fantastic job.
“It is quite a smooth operation.”

Mr Chegwyn said that he believed the weekend went very well, despite the poor weather.
He continued: “Everyone who attended had a very good time. I think the hardware shop in the village did very well selling wellies!
“While I don’t think we had as many people as we expected, I think some people took a look at the weather and decided against it. However, our overall numbers we up from last year and we are very pleased.
“The weather stopped a lot of other weekend events, but we carried on. It is getting hard work with climate change, and bad weather like this is bound to become more common.
“But we had the big tops, so people were able to stay nice and dry once they got in, and the atmosphere was great!”
Mr Chegwyn also confirmed that there are plans for the Wickham Festival to return in 2024.
