A TEST Valley villager has been cleared of speeding but fined for failing to help the police.
Michael Wilkinson, 42, was accused of driving a 70-reg Toyota at 87 mph in a 70-zone on the A303 at Barton Stacey on September 4 2021, a court heard.
Wilkinson, of Farley Street, Nether Wallop, near Stockbridge, was also alleged to have failed on November 16 2021 to give information to the police about the identity of a driver alleged to have committed an offence.
At a trial at Aldershot Magistrates Court on Wednesday August 2 he was acquitted of speeding but convicted of the other allegation.
District Judge Tim Pattinson fined him £660 with £250 costs and a £66 victim surcharge. The financial penalty of £976 must be paid by August 30, the judge ordered.
Six penalty points were added to his driving licence.
