A NEW stationery shop is moving into the former Paperchase unit in Winchester city centre.
Workers started renovating the frontage of the St George's Street shop on Monday July 31, giving it a fresh lick of paint and installing the word 'Mooch'.
Paperchase closed at the end of March after stationery company went into administration. While Tesco announced a deal to buy the brand and intellectual property, the shops themselves have not been purchased.
Other former Paperchase units across the country have been converted into Mooch such as in Lincoln, Plymouth and Sheffield. They specialise in gifts, stationery and homeware items, along with toys and seasonal products.
This comes after menswear shop Suave Owl opened on Winchester High Street.
A Mooch spokesman said: "We are really excited to be opening in Winchester city centre and we look forward to having strong relations with the centre management team and our customers."
The store will be opening on Wednesday August 30.
