A BARBEQUE is being held at Northbrook Hall to raise funds.

The event will take place on August 18 at 5pm. Entry will cost £7.50 on the door and will include access to the barbeque and first drink. All money raised will go to the Northbrook Hall fund.

SOUTH Wonston Women’s Institute is holding a scarecrow competition. Entry costs £1 for each scarecrow, and they must be displayed between August 14 and August 28.

The competition features a range of prize categories, with winners receiving planet friendly ice cream donated by Jude’s.

THE Micheldever First Sunday in The Month fundraising walk is returning on Sunday, August 6. The walk will start at 10.30am at The Cricketers at Long Parish.

The approximately 5-mile walk will take in tree-shaded paths, the downland overlooking the Test Valley and descent to the river valley. While some gradients will be present, the route itself will feature easily walkable paths.

The walk will take voluntary donations supporting the maintenance of the Micheldever defibrillators, with donations of £5 suggested. Children will be able to join the walk for free. Dogs are also welcome. For more information, contact Sue Bell by emailing suebell0906@gmail.com.

HAPPY’S Circus will be returning to The Gratton, Sutton Scotney, on Sunday, September 3.

A fun comedy show for all the family, the event is supported by International Circus Artists. The event starts at 12.30pm, while the show itself starts at 2pm. Refreshments will be available to purchase. Tickets cost £10, while under 2’s will be able to enter free.

THE Micheldever Festival is set to return on September 9.

The festival will take place at St Mary’s Churchyard and will last from 3pm to 7pm. There will be an array of attractions, including local performing arts, a real ale tent, a barbeque, a jazz band and a children’s zone.

There will also be a baking competition for teenagers and a Dever Valley Photographic Competition.

THE recently re-opened Half Moon & Spread Eagle pub in Micheldever is currently operating reduced opening hours while it looks for full time staff.

The pub will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and will be open from 11.30am to 3pm and 5.30pm to 10pm on Wednesday to Friday. It will be open from 11.30am to 10pm on Saturdays and 11.30am to 4pm on Sundays.

THE South Wonston Swifts Football Club is looking to start an U7’s team for the 2023/24 season. The group is also missing teams from a number of age groups, and would welcome players, coaches, and managers interested in forming a new team.
