THE founder of an independent menswear shop has said that he is excited to open a new branch in Winchester.
Suave Owl opened at its first location in 2017 and was founded by Anthony Harvey and his wife Jessica when they were planning their wedding.
While searching for wedding suits for a larger man, Tony struggled to find something a little different to traditional groom’s wear, with the brand hoping to tackle a gap in the market.

The Winchester branch, located on the High Street in the unit previously occupied by shoe shop Hotter, will open on Saturday, July 29. Speaking to the Chronicle, Tony said: “This has been about six months in the making, maybe a little bit longer.
“We were going round to different places, Farnham, Tunbridge Wells, a few places, and Winchester was the only place that felt like home and felt like it could work and that we were needed in Winchester.
“We got the keys about two weeks ago, so we’ve managed to get in here, me and my wife, and turn this around in two weeks, which I’m quite proud of.”
He continued: “We set up (Suave Owl) in 2017. That then went to us basically realising that there are gaps in the market for sizing for all different shirts and clothes and so on.

“And we basically designed our own brand of shirts, that’s where it started, and that escalated into our own band of t-shirts and this hopefully will allow us to expand on that a little bit more.”
Tony went on to say: “I’m really excited for this place, purely for the community feel. Winchester has a really good local community. I’ve been round and spoken to some of the traders, especially independents, and they’ve all been really great, really receptive to us and everyone seems to be excited about it.”
Suave Owl will open in Winchester on July 29. More information about the brand can be found on its website.
