FIREFIGHTERS were called to Winchester Prison as a precautionary measure following a small fire.
The Winchester crew was alerted to the incident at 11.46am on Wednesday, July 26.
The fire, inside the building in Romsey Road, was put out by staff so no action was needed and firefighters returned to their station at 12.18pm.
A prison service spokesperson said: “Hardworking staff safely resolved a minor incident at HMP Winchester on Wednesday 26 July.”
No staff or prisoners were injured.
