GP patients across Winchester and Romsey have given their opinions about the quality of the services they receive.

The GP Patient Survey gives people the opportunity to rate their local GP surgery in areas such as: overall experience, ease to get through on the phone, experience when making an appointment, usually seeing their preferred GP and more.

St Paul's Surgery and Wickham Surgery came out on top again, both rated 90 per cent for overall experience. Last year, both were rated at 89 per cent.

The biggest change saw Stockbridge Surgery increase from 71 per cent to 89 per cent.

At the other end of the scale, the list is again propped up by Abbeywell Surgery in Romsey, decreasing from 62 per cent to 51 per cent. North Baddesley Surgery also decreased from 68 per cent to 56 per cent.

Only four per cent of Abbeywell patients said they usually get to see or speak to their preferred GP when they would like to. Also, just 16 per cent said they find it easy to get through by phone.

The highest rating for helpful receptionists was Friarsgate Practise in Winchester city centre, with 94 per cent. The lowest was North Baddesley Surgery with 61 per cent.

Often, patients need to use the website to book appointments or to consult with a GP online, so making sure it's easy to use is critical. In the website ease category, Stockbridge Surgery came out on top with 87 per cent, with less than half of the people at Abbeywell Surgery finding it easy at just 46.51 per cent.

Another category was the experience of making an appointment. The worst experience, according to patients was Abbeywell and North Baddesley Surgeries, with both getting 29 per cent. The surgeries with the best experience was Twyford and Wickham, both with 82 per cent.

GP surgeries are often overstretched when it comes to appointment times. In the satisfaction with appointment times category, Twyford Surgery came top with 77 per cent, with North Baddesley Surgery bottom at just 27 per cent.

The confidence in the healthcare professional category saw high scores across the board. Bishop's Waltham and St Paul's Surgeries got 98 per cent, with the lowest being Abbeywell Surgery with 88 per cent.
