A SHOP owner is thrilled with how his first year of business in Romsey has gone.
Plantaholics, by Cedar Nursey in Romsey, celebrated its anniversary with prosecco, brownies and in-store discounts.
Owner David Head, 38, said: “The first year at Plantaholics has gone incredibly fast and we are immensely proud. Starting a new business is certainly a big risk, especially with the challenges that people face with the cost of living.
“We have met some lovely new customers from all across Hampshire and Romsey has welcomed Plantaholics with open arms. We couldn’t have asked for a more positive reaction. Customers love the shop, prices, quality and diversity of the plants on offer.

“Although most garden centres stock houseplants, there aren’t any dedicated houseplant shops that are local to the Romsey area. Many of our customers now exclusively come to use for their houseplant needs.”
The business, in Sandy Lane, was packed out for its birthday event on Saturday, July 15, with new and existing customers coming to celebrate and enjoy the exclusive 10 per cent discount.

Throughout the year, the shop has expanded its range, adding unusual species of plants with new display areas.
Mr Head, who lives in Eastleigh, said: “We are always brainstorming on new ways to expand and there are certainly plans in place to move the business forward. We are currently exploring the idea of taking Plantaholics ‘on the road’ to local shows.”
Before taking over the former fireplace shop, David managed Cedar Nursery for four years following on from a long career in retail. He decided to make the switch to horticulture as a plant lover looking to reduce work stress.
