WORK has begun to install electric vehicle charging bays at the Waitrose in Romsey.
The installation started on Tuesday, July 19, with eight EV charging spaces being set up.
A Waitrose spokesperson said: “We're working hard to be a sustainable retailer. As our customers look for greener ways to travel, we've partnered with Shell to install electric vehicle charging bays into 100 Waitrose sites by 2025.

“This includes eight new electric vehicle charging points at our Romsey branch. We expect these to be available from September.”
The spokesperson confirmed to the Advertiser that of the eight charging bays at the Romsey branch, two will be accessible, two will feature rapid charging points (50kw) and six will be fitted with fast chargers (22kw).
The car park features almost 400 parking spaces, including the bays set aside for electric vehicles, meaning that there will still be plenty of parking for all.
