Your readers may have been made aware of the proposed closure of Bishop's Waltham House care home.
This is the most unkind decision I have heard of. Not only will it be terrible for the residents (who don't have money for private health care) but most of whom are from the village and whose relatives also live there. In addition, the staff also live locally.
Apparently they "will not lose their jobs". Hardly a comfort when the nearest similar care homes are in the New Forest and Waterlooville...and the staff fit their work around school and other duties.
This seems to be a cynical exercise. The land would accommodate lots of houses or flats.
This really is a case of putting money before people.
Is this what the Conservative Hampshire County Council really want for their elderly and infirm constituents. So it would seem.
