ST SWITHUN’S Prep School in Winchester has announced the appointment of a new head of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Sue Powell, who has been part of the school’s community over the past two years, will join in September.
As the current head of English and a dedicated class teacher at the school, she is set to bring years of experience and expertise to the role. With a career spanning various independent schools and the entire age range of children in the primary phase, Sue has gained extensive experience working with children aged 3-11.
As a member of the senior management team, she will play a pivotal role in shaping the school's Early Years Foundation Stage provision and ensuring its alignment with best practices in pursuit of excellence in all aspects of children's development.

Outgoing Prep headteacher Jonathan Brough said: “I am delighted that Sue will be taking a well-deserved step up to manage our Early Years groups at St Swithun's. It has been a real joy and privilege to work alongside her in a number of different roles for over a decade. I have watched her flourish here during the past two years and I cannot wait to hear about her successes to come.”
Liz Norris, who is set to take over as headteacher in September, said of Sue’s appointment: “We are thrilled that Sue will be taking on her new role as Head of EYFS at St Swithun's Prep from September.
“Her extensive experience, deep commitment to education, and passion for early years learning will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and success of our Early Years provision. We look forward to the positive impact she will have on our students and staff alike.”
