A WINCHESTER man has been arrested on suspicion of importing drugs into the country.

Officers from Winchester’s Priority Crime Team, District Policing Team and Investigations executed a warrant at an address on Old Station Approach off Chesil Street on July 13.

The warrant was executed as part of an ongoing investigation into drugs supply and importation.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of importing Class B drugs into the country. He remains in custody at this time.

A number of items have been seized, including a quantity of suspected class A drugs, mobile phones and documents.

Inspector Matt Kirby said: “We are relentlessly pursuing criminals and this warrant forms part of our ongoing efforts to tackle drug supply and related criminal activity and harm in the Winchester district.

“We want to assure you that we are listening and acting on your concerns. We encourage you to continue to report information to us about drugs supply and suspicious activity – you may not always see an immediate police deployment but the information you provide forms part of our wider intelligence picture.”
