THE owner of a sweet shop has commended Romsey's community spirit following her first year of business in the town.

Angel Floss Sweet Shop, in Latimer Walk, celebrated its first birthday on the same day as Beggars Fair.

To mark the occasion it gave out free balloons, had ice cream specials and hosted an anniversary raffle.

Owner Victoria Ridge said: “It has been a fantastic year for Angel Floss. Romsey is such a lovely community and a great place to be. I feel extremely lucky to be situated in such a buzzy market town.

“We have established a good local clientele but customers are also now coming from further afield. The feedback has been incredible.

“The cost-of-living crisis is affecting many people and times have been tough but we try and keep our prices competitive and sweets and ice creams can be an affordable little treat.

“Throughout the year we have grown our pick n mix selection by adding an extra 20 options as well as expanding our traditional selection. It has definitely been a learning experience and we have tried to let our customers lead the way by telling us what their favourites are.

“Choices are very personal and often nostalgic. When we first opened I never knew that the demand for liquorice would be so high. We now have more than 10 different types in store.”

“We are very excited for the year ahead with big plans to expand by launching our own website and expanding into areas such as corporate events, weddings, baby showers and more.

“We all love working in Romsey. The community spirit here is incredible.”
