Hampshire country pub previews £1m transformation ahead of re-opening

Three months of hard work have nearly come to an end, with the newly transformed Cart and Horses opening on Tuesday, July 25.

Ahead of the launch, the Chronicle was given a sneak peek inside.

Highlights include a new walkers’ entrance opening into the biodiverse front garden, an outdoor bar next to a covered seating area, multiple secluded rooms which can be hired out and a specially commissioned collage of the pub.

A colour scheme of terracotta and turquoise runs throughout, with every other wall wallpapered or painted differently.

Guests will have multiple seating options whether that’s outside, by the bar, in one of the private rooms or in a snug by the bay window. Even the female toilets have seats by the mirror.

Greene King has aimed to keep the Grade II listed building’s character and history alive with exposed original brickwork and open fires.

The car park is in three parts with two electric charging points having been installed.

As well as 39 new positions being filled, a few of the original team who worked under the previous owners have remained on board.
