WONSTON Community Café has raised more than £400 for the Sutton Scotney Defibrillator Fund.

The fund was started in 2016 to raise funds for and organise the installation of defibrillators across Wonston Parish.

The machines are maintained by volunteers, with new electrode pads and batteries needed every two and four years respectively. Replacing the electrodes costs £260, while the batteries cost £1,000.

The June Wonston Community Café raised £425 for the maintenance of the five defibrillators in the parish. Defibrillator fund founder Rob Parker said: “We are really grateful that our fabulous Wonston Community Cafe are offering us the proceeds of today's cafe towards these ongoing costs.”

The next community café is on Wednesday, June 19 at the Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney. It will raise funds for the upkeep of the hall.

The café will not take place in August before returning on September 20.

The Wonston Community Café raises money for a range of local good causes. Taking place once a month at the Victoria Hall, it sells cakes, coffee and tea and is staffed entirely by volunteers.
