A PLEA has gone out for people to step forward and volunteer as drivers so that a club can continue to do good deeds in the community.
Romsey Good Neighbours held its annual AGM in June for the appointment of officers and trustees, and approval of the annual accounts.
The charity provides volunteer drivers to take people aged 66 and over to their medical appointments.
About 30 drivers, coordinators and supporters attended the meeting held in the Annexe of the Crosfield Hall.
Pamela Leech, from the group, said the group was grateful to Test Valley Borough Council for their support.
She said: "They provide generous financial support for our service serving the people of Romsey, Ampfield and Braishfield.
"We are also grateful to our clients who also make generous donations over and above the fee they pay drivers for the journey. RGN was also fortunate to receive bequests during the course of the year which ensures that we are able to run the service throughout the year.
"With the ever-growing expansion of Romsey, especially with retirement and care homes the demands on the services of Romsey Good Neighbours is at an all-time high!"
However, more drivers are needed.
She said: "As a result of the extra demand we would love to hear from you if you have some spare time and could consider driving for us – this may be in and around Romsey or further afield to the various local hospitals in Southampton, Lymington and Salisbury.
"All drivers are reimbursed for their expenses. If your time is limited then local drives may suit you as these tend to be doctor’s appointments and are of shorter time duration than hospital appointments.
"If driving is not your thing perhaps volunteering to take bookings and use our computerised system in our office for a few hours a week might interest you."

Diane Dawkins was elected to serve as chairwoman for a further year, Pam Leech continues to serve for a further year as secretary and David Chillingworth was elected as the new treasurer. The accounts were presented by Mary Dovey.
