WINCHESTER Police have continued an anti-drugs operation, testing people upon entry to a popular city centre pub.
On Friday, June 23, officers conducted another joint operation with Police Licensing but this time at The Old Gaolhouse Wetherspoons in Jewry Street.
Officers used a rapid scan machine to test for traces of drugs as a condition of entry to the pub which was on board with the initiative.

Those who were found to have a higher trace of drugs on them were then searched.
Winchester Police posted on Facebook: “This operation is a result of increased concerns raised by local licensed premises about drug use in their venue.
“We will continue to work in partnership with licensed venues and Police Licensing to ensure the safety of those out enjoying Winchester's night time economy.”
The latest anti-drugs operation follows the same procedure which was enforced at Alfie’s in The Broadway at the beginning of May.
