I note, it may not be the first time, that a red kite, a large bird of prey, cruised the skies over Oliver's Battery.
I have been waiting for them to work their way south from Berkshire and North Hampshire where they have bred successfully in the last few years. This might be seen as too successful by many people other than the RSPB and notable bird lovers.
They are fabulous birds to watch, but they are now becoming a major nuisance in suburban areas in the counties particularly as people will feed them raw meat. They can find their own.
May I risk opprobrium by encouraging people to look but not feed.
