Police are investigating a burglary at a property in Weeke.
The incident happened in the early hours of this morning (Sunday June 18) at an address near Stoney Lane.
Police are advising residents on ways to keep their property secure, amid the recent heat.
A post on Winchester Police Facebook said: “Earlier today, colleagues from Winchester response and patrol attended an address near Stoney Lane after a report of a burglary in the earlier hours of the morning.
“Officers from Winchester Neighbourhoods Team assisted by talking to neighbours, offering advice and leaving useful leaflets through the letterbox of nearby houses.

“With the summer and hot weather fast approaching, we advise all residents to be conscious of leaving windows and doors open and unlocked throughout the day and overnight. Opportunistic criminals will always try and find a weak link in a home's security and exploit this.
“If you noticed anything unusual in the Weeke, Harestock or Teg Down areas last night, such as CCTV footage or eyewitness observations, please contact us on 101 with reference 44230241986.
“The investigation into the burglary near Stoney Lane continues, and officers from the Winchester Neighbourhood Team will make contact with the aggrieved next week to offer further support.”
