ONE woman from Winchester and one woman from Romsey were recognised in the King’s first Birthday Honours list for their services and achievements.
Deputy medical director for Public Health England, Dr Jenifer Smith, from Romsey, was honoured for her services to sport during the pandemic.
Dr Smith joined Public Health England 10 years ago. Her career roles include helping to establish Public Health England’s South Midlands and Hertfordshire Centre, leading National Clinical Audit Programme, developing electronic cancer registration for the South West of England, quality assurance of the population screening programmes and applying multi-criteria decision-making to commissioning for health gain.
Director of International Affairs Ingrid Southworth, from Winchester, has been honoured for her services to British foreign policy.
Prior to being the cabinet office’s international director, Ms Ingrid was British deputy high commissioner to Australia from 2017 to 2021.
The Hampshire pair are among hundreds of citizens on the list, announced on Saturday, June 17.
