DEVELOPERS have pulled out of a public meeting this evening that would have discussed plans for a former military base on the outskirts of Winchester.

They had been to share their latest ideas for a business park at Bushfield Camp with Badger Farm Parish Council, with the meeting open to the public.

But the parish council has been told that a member of the development team is unable to attend for personal reasons.

In a statement the parish council said: "BFPC were extremely disappointed that the scheduled presentation on June 12, with Mr Chris Lapsa (Gisborne) and Ms Nikki Davies (marketing) was cancelled at the last minute.

"The meeting would have provided an opportunity for the residents and parish councillors to gain a full understanding of the extent of the proposed development and the impact, both positive and negative, on Badger Farm residents, neighbouring parishes, and Winchester as a whole.

"The meeting has not been re-scheduled at this moment but will go ahead with just our residents so the Parish Council can gauge public opinion.

"We will talk to the developers to rearrange a full meeting as soon as possible.   Details will be available on our FB page, website: www.badgerfarm-pc.gov.uk and on the Parish notice boards."

Local city councillor Brian Laming said: "I'm very disappointed. A lot of people were taking the trouble to get to the meeting. Quite a large number have concerns judging by the emails I have been getting. Very few people like it."

A spokeswoman for the developers said they were looking to reschedule the meeting.
