THE Watercress Line is inviting everyone to enjoy an evening under the stars with its special 1930s and 40s’ dance.

A first for the Watercress Line, ‘A Night Under the Stars’ will be held in a marquee at Alresford Station forecourt on Saturday, June 17, from 7.30pm to 11pm.

Guests are invited to dress in their finest attire and get into the swing with nostalgic tunes provided by singer Lynsey Shaw and the Now That’s Jive band. There will be a wine bar, craft beer tent, food, 1940s vehicles on display and stalls selling vintage memorabilia.

Earlybird tickets for this special occasion are £20 until June 9, and £25 per person afterwards.

The special dance will be part of a two-day event from June 17 to June 18.

At Alresford and Ropley stations “Sir Winston Churchill” and “The Queen Mother” are set to make VIP appearances as reenactors mingle with the crowds. There will be plenty of reminiscent music, a variety of vintage stalls, an Emergency Shop, an opportunity to experience an air raid shelter, vintage vehicles, War Bikes, Staff Cars, and a 1935 fire engine as well as 30s and 40s’ history displays.

The Watercress Line’s Interim CEO Rebecca Dalley said: “Our 1930s and 40s event is always a popular event which is great fun. This year, we have the addition of an evening dance too which is fantastic.

“We look forward to seeing guests dress up and capture the glamour of the swing era at our railway. Book ahead and don’t miss this wonderful occasion.”
