Bespoke Biking, who operate the Handlebar Cafe and the Winchester Bike Hub, has celebrated refurbishing more than 100 bicycles.

They run two sessions a week, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, where people come and work on donated bikes.

Director Heather Evans said: “Each week our Cog volunteers come along to sessions in The Bike Hub.

“The sessions have proved hugely popular and we have built up a strong team who come regularly either to learn a skill and or to get out and meet people.”

The refurbished bikes are then checked and put out for sale at affordable prices at The Bike Hub in Kings Walk.

Heather added: “We are a social enterprise so any profits go towards helping cycling in Winchester. We also try to work with other charities and give bikes to people in need. For instance we heard about a Ukrainian lady needing a bike to get to job interviews. We were able to find something good for her and she was thrilled. Our Cog volunteers are a very mixed bunch.”

Volunteer Howard Watts said: “I started coming along to Cogs after I retired from the fire service. I did a mechanic’s course several years ago, so now I really enjoy doing up bikes and helping others learn.”

Anna Herron said: “I volunteer fortnightly at the Bike Hub Cogs to learn more about bike repair, it’s great to see cleaned up, fully serviced, refurbished bicycles. Up-cycled and cared for, all with a month’s warranty too. It’s great to see bikes going to good homes.”

The Bike Hub has a good range of bikes on sale at affordable prices.
