A HAMPSHIRE food bank charity is appealing for more volunteers.
Fareshare, which has a warehouse in Totton, is the UK's largest charity fighting hunger and food waste.
It is estimated that more than two million tonnes of food is thrown away every year across the country - the equivalent of 1.3 billion meals.
Martyn Ingram, from the charity, said: “At Fareshare we deal with around 80 tonnes of surplus food every month from a variety of sources including donations from supermarkets and from the public. Our aim is to reduce food poverty and to eliminate food waste.

“We supply a range of community food members - from churches that run elderly lunch clubs, to schools running breakfast clubs plus community cafes and food banks.
“We run weekly larders around the county at which members pay a small sum in exchange for a variety of foods.
“Our volunteers generally provide five or more hours a week from our warehouse in Totton. The work may involve driving our vans, assisting with larders and deliveries or picking goods in our warehouse.”
