SPARSHOLT Church of England Primary School has been graded excellent by the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS).

The report was published last week following the inspection on April 28. The inspectors said the primary school’s curriculum was “innovative” while the students show “compassion” in how they support local and global issues.

The report read: “This school is a truly inspiring place to learn and to work. All members of the school community live out the Christian vision with authenticity and kindness. The vision is embedded and effective.”

In the school’s latest newsletter, headteacher Elizabeth Hanratty, said: “We couldn’t have achieved this without everyone’s continued support and positivity. This is truly an amazing whole school community and I feel so lucky to be part of it.”

HOMEMADE cakes and sandwiches have returned to Sparsholt Village Shop with a group of 18 volunteers working together to make sure there is always something on offer.

An aluminium recycling bin has been introduced next to shop, behind the telephone box. Residents are being encouraged to save and wash their aluminium foil for the collection point to minimise waste and help support Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

THE Great Kings Worthy Clean Up saw 25 adults and children club together to partially fill 12 bags of litter on Saturday, May 20.

Kings Worthy Parish Council posted on Facebook: “This is actually great news as it’s a lot less than we’ve had in previous litter picks. Some of our regular volunteers reported back that there was a lot less litter to be found this time around.

“A special mention goes out to James McCulloch aged five and Daniel Wallis aged six who both came along with their very own litter picks.

They take these along with them whenever they go out walking with their families and collect litter along the way … how amazing is that!

“An equal appreciation goes out to the other children who attended, and thank you so much to their parents for choosing to make it a family event. The effort from all who attended is hugely appreciated.”
